Within Wesley Pediatric Specialists, you will find our Pediatric Development Clinic. Your child was likely referred to this clinic by his/her primary care provider. Following the referral, you will receive a development packet (including release of information) to be completed. Once the packet is completed and returned to our office, the appointment will be scheduled.

First-time visitors: What to expect

At your first visit, your family will be greeted by our medical office specialists who will assist with checking the patient in and verifying that we have all correct information for the patient. This is very important so that we are able to communicate with your family for future visits/communications. Next, a nurse or medical assistant will greet the child and family and show them to the vitals area where they will obtain your child's height, weight, and vital signs. The nurse/medical assistant will then take the child and family to the next room where they will review your child's medical history with you. Your child will then be seen and examined by the physician who will work with the child and family on a diagnosis and treatment plan. In many cases, lab work may be required to aid in diagnosis. Please be sure your child is well hydrated as hydration is very important to this process. The staff will assist in making sure this is a smooth process and your child remains as comfortable as possible. The average length of development visits are around 30 to 90 minutes.
